Things To Do

Hiking – There are several hiking trails around the Jalón Valley and the surrounding hills. You can also walk from village to village, through the many orange and almond groves.

Cycling – Cycling is a very popular sport in Spain, and Jalon is no exception. Several European national teams come here every year to train. For those of you who are unable to bring your own equipment, there are bike rentals in the village where you can also get advice on suitable routes.

Golf – The closest golf course is called La Sella Golf, and is located outside Denia. There are, moreover, several clubs outside Benidorm.

Climbing – There are information points outside the nearby villages of Llíber and Alcalalí which provide information about rock climbing trails.

Swimming – Just a short walk from Casa de Pozo is a village pool which is open during the summer months. In Moraira and Calpe, which are located approximately 20-30 minutes by car from the village, there are several popular beaches. The Waterfall of L’Algar is also an experience not to be missed.

Culture – The legacy of the Moors is visible everywhere in around in the local area. There are ruins, terraced farm land and not to be forgotten, all place names starting with Beni-. Make sure to visit the plentiful markets and local fiestas. Every Saturday, Xaló hosts an enchanting flea market (Xaló Rastro), which attracts hundreds of visitors.

Local Gastronomy – Weekends are all about food in Spain. Families and friends gather together for lunches, lasting for several hours. Paella is served all hours of the day on Saturdays. Enjoy the proud culinary traditions, that have been passed on for generations by restaurants specialising in local cuisine. The area is famous for its cured meats. Here you will find several local butchers with their own production carried out on site.
